The main objective is to reveal how microstructure, superstructure, and macrostructure are employed in the text to convey social, political, and religious messages within the historical transition from the Majapahit Kingdom to the Islamic Sultanate of Demak. The research applies a qualitative-descriptive method with a critical discourse approach. The data consist of textual units analyzed across three dimensions: microstructure (semantics, syntax, stylistics, rhetoric), superstructure (narrative pattern), and macrostructure (global theme and supporting subthemes). The findings indicate that, at the micro level, the author employs detailed narration, lexical choices, and sentence constructions to reinforce moral and religious messages. At the superstructural level, the text is systematically organized into introduction, content, and conclusion, strengthening narrative coherence. At the macro level, the global theme highlights the collapse of Majapahit, the rise of Demak, and the pivotal role of the wali in the Islamization of Java. These results demonstrate that classical Nusantara texts not only preserve historical values but also serve as a medium of critical and transformative religious discourse. This research contributes to enriching critical discourse analysis in the field of Islamic studies in Indonesia and fosters academic dialogue between global theory and local texts.
2026-04-28T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Muhammad Imam Nawawi, M Baihaqi, Nur Lailatus Sholiha, Muzakki Abdurrahman, Muhammad Dhiya' Syaifullah (Author) https://jurnalfahum.uinsa.ac.id/index.php/jilsa/article/view/2038 Konstruksi Makna Sosial-Religius dan Pandangan Dunia dalam Novel Aulād Ḥāratinā Karya Najib Mahfouz: Kajian Strukturalisme Genetik Lucien Goldmann 2026-04-04T08:25:19+00:00 Mochamad Arvin Navarro navarro.arvin2003@gmail.com Akmaliyah Akmaliyah akmaliyah@uinsgd.ac.id Mohammad Rosyid Ridho mohammadrosyid@uinsgd.ac.id
This study examines Aulād Ḥāratinā by Najib Mahfouz through Lucien Goldmann’s Genetic Structuralism to reveal the socio-religious meanings and the author’s worldview reflected in the narrative structure. The study of modern Arabic literature is significant as literary works function not only as aesthetic expressions but also as reflections of social and ideological dynamics within society. Previous studies have largely focused on the novel’s religious allegory, while analyses connecting narrative structure with the author’s collective consciousness remain limited. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method using close reading techniques of the novel text. The findings show that the narrative structure constructs socio-religious meanings through recurring conflict patterns representing the evolution of human values, while the author’s worldview reflects a critical perspective on moral cycles, power structures, and modernity. This study contributes to modern Arabic literary studies by demonstrating that literary works can be understood as reflections of social consciousness as well as critical responses to historical realities.
2026-04-28T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Mochamad Arvin Navarro, Akmaliyah Akmaliyah, Mohammad Rosyid Ridho (Author) https://jurnalfahum.uinsa.ac.id/index.php/jilsa/article/view/2066 Otoritas Moral dalam Cerpen Arab “Jughrafiyā”: Kajian Strukturalisme Genetik dalam Perspektif Sastra Bandingan 2026-04-11T01:35:20+00:00 Siti Khansa Mahirah 221360085.siti@uinbanten.ac.id Ida Nursida ida.nursida@uinbanten.ac.id Mohamad Rohman mohamad.rohman@uinbanten.ac.id
This study examines the construction of moral authority in the Arabic short story Jughrafiyā by Faryal Khalifah, with a comparative reference to the Indonesian short story Robohnya Surau Kami by A.A. Navis. This topic is significant as critiques of moral authority in literature reflect the relationship between individual experiences, social values, and collective responsibility within society. Although numerous studies have explored morality in literature, research that specifically investigates the interplay between textual structure, collective consciousness, and socio-historical context in shaping moral authority remains limited. This study aims to fill this gap by employing a qualitative descriptive-analytical method and the perspective of Goldmann’s Genetic Structuralism. The analysis of textual elements, narrative structure, and socio-historical context reveals that the moral authority of the father figure in Jughrafiyā is symbolic and reflective, rooted in historical experience and collective trauma. In contrast, moral legitimacy in Robohnya Surau Kami is primarily ritualistic and detached from social responsibility. These findings highlight that moral authority becomes effective only when manifested in concrete social action, while also contributing to a broader understanding of moral critique in Arabic literature and cross-cultural literary studies.
2026-04-28T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Siti Khansa Mahirah, Ida Nursida, Mohamad Rohman (Author) https://jurnalfahum.uinsa.ac.id/index.php/jilsa/article/view/2051 From Semanalysis to Intertextuality in the Song “Kalām ‘Aynīh”: A Julia Kristeva Perspective 2026-04-04T08:28:56+00:00 Zacky Aqsha Noriska aqsazaky022@gmail.com Zulkhairi Zulkhairi zulkhairi.sofyan@ar-raniry.ac.id Anshar Zulhelmi anshar.zulhelmi@ar-raniry.ac.id Abd Razak abd.razak@ar-raniry.ac.id Azwir Azwir azwirm.ali@ar-raniry.ac.id
This study aims to uncover the meaning of the lyrics yā layl yā laylī in the song kalām ‘aynīh through Julia Kristeva’s semiotic analysis. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method, utilizing written data in the form of the song lyrics of kalām ‘aynīh and netizen comments from several TikTok accounts. The data collection technique applied in this study is a note-taking and reading technique through a literature review. The data are analyzed through the stages of identification, application, analysis, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the genotext is understood as an inner process encompassing feelings of love, longing, and emotional experiences, which are then expressed through the song lyrics, while the phenotext is manifested in the lyrics of Kalam Eineh that function to convey the meaning of the genotext. At the level of signification, the lyrics yā layl yā laylī signify longing for the presence of the beloved, whereas at the level of signifiance they convey an idealized specification of the female figure. Intertextually, the lyrics yā layl yā laylī represent longing for one’s beloved. Thus, the interpretation of the lyrics yā layl yā laylī provides an explanation for the shift in meaning that occurs in kalām ‘aynīh has interpreted by TikTok users in Indonesia, while simultaneously emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive and contextual understanding of song lyrics so that the meanings received remain grounded in the original text.
2026-04-28T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Zacky Aqsha Noriska, Zulkhairi Zulkhairi, Anshar Zulhelmi, Abd Razak, Azwir Azwir (Author) https://jurnalfahum.uinsa.ac.id/index.php/jilsa/article/view/2061 Tindak Tutur Ilokusi dalam Lirik Lagu “Lughāt Al-ʻālam” Karya Humood Alkhuder: Representasi Kasih Sayang Ibu dalam Perspektif Pragmatik 2026-04-04T08:30:30+00:00 Nur Fadila nurfadilahr411@gmail.com Ekawati Ekawati ekawati@uinjkt.ac.id
Language functions not only as a means of communication, but also as an instrument of action that represents the speaker’s intentions, feelings, and inner experiences. In the realm of art, particularly music, language is expressed through song lyrics that carry meaning as well as specific communicative acts. This study aims to analyze the meanings of locutionary and illocutionary acts in the song “Lughāt al-ʻĀlam” by Humood Alkhuder by applying a pragmatic approach based on speech act theory proposed by J.L. Austin and further developed by John Searle. This research employs a descriptive qualitative design using a library research method and document analysis technique. The primary data consist of the song lyrics, while secondary data are drawn from books, articles, and academic journals related to pragmatics. The findings indicate that the lyrics contain illocutionary acts that function to praise, express affection, and convey respect. Therefore, the language used in the song does not merely communicate lexical meaning, but also reflects complex communicative actions that generate emotional impact.
2026-04-28T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Dila Rahman, Ekawati Ekawati (Author) https://jurnalfahum.uinsa.ac.id/index.php/jilsa/article/view/2045 Menelaah Struktur Mood dan Residu dalam Pidato Berbahasa Arab Anis Matta Tentang Palestina dan Implikasi Pedagogis Terhadap Pemahaman Membaca Kritis 2026-04-04T08:27:37+00:00 Nunung Nunung nunung.1@upi.edu Rinaldi Supriadi rinaldisupriadi@upi.edu
The Palestinian-Israeli conflict has become a global issue that has generated diverse diplomatic and rhetorical responses from various countries, including Indonesia, which consistently supports Palestinian independence. This study aims to describe the Mood and Residue structures in Anis Matta's Arabic speech at the Extraordinary Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Riyadh, and to explain their implications for the development of critical Arabic reading comprehension. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach with document analysis techniques applied to 53 clauses in the speech text. The analysis focuses on identifying Subjek and Finite as constituents of Mood, and Predicator, Complement, and Adjunct as constituents of Residue within the Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) framework. The findings reveal that Subjek and Predicator dominate the Mood and Residue structure, indicating that the speech is constructed through affirmation of social actors and representation of collective action as strategies for building solidarity and legitimacy. These findings confirm that Mood and Residue structures function as interpersonal devices in diplomatic discourse. Pedagogically, this analysis can be utilized to support critical Arabic reading instruction through understanding social relations and ideological positioning in texts
2026-04-28T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Nunung Nunung, Rinaldi Supriadi (Author) https://jurnalfahum.uinsa.ac.id/index.php/jilsa/article/view/2063 Bahasa Al-Qur’an: Antara Doktrin Kebenaran Agama dan Kaidah Kebahasaan 2026-04-18T14:48:19+00:00 Burhan Djamaluddin burhandjamaluddin@tribakti.com Nurlailah Nurlailah laila.nurlailah@gmail.com Ahmad Zamzamy ahmadzamzamy83@gmail.com
This study aims to examine the relationship between Arabic linguistic rules and certain Qur’anic expressions that appear not to fully conform to established norms of nahwu and imlāʾ. Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive-interpretative method, this research analyzes various forms of perceived linguistic irregularities and the interpretive strategies developed by classical and contemporary scholars to account for them. The findings indicate that such apparent inconsistencies are not considered errors; rather, they are understood as part of the distinctive uslūb (stylistic features) of the Qur’an, encompassing rhetorical, eloquent (balāghah), and inimitable (iʿjāz) dimensions. Consequently, interpretive efforts seek to reconstruct linguistic understanding in a way that remains consistent with the belief in the Qur’an’s absolute truth. This study underscores that a linguistic approach to the Qur’an requires an epistemological framework that goes beyond normative grammatical rules, incorporating theological and rhetorical dimensions inherent in the text.
2026-04-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Burhan Djamaluddin, Nurlailah Nurlailah, Ahmad Zamzamy (Author) https://jurnalfahum.uinsa.ac.id/index.php/jilsa/article/view/2071 Dinamika Encoding–Decoding dalam Sastra Arab Digital: Resepsi dan Konstruksi Makna pada Novel al-Jinnu al-ʿĀsyiq pada Aplikasi Wattpad 2026-04-29T11:04:51+00:00 Andini Adelia Fathan din221100@gmail.com Nurkholis Pilomonu nurpilomonu@gmail.com Fathur Rohim fathurrohim0169@gmail.com
The development of digital literature through platforms such as Wattpad has transformed the interaction between text and readers, particularly through comment sections as spaces of immediate and participatory reception. This study aims to analyze readers’ reception of the Arabic digital novel Al-Jinnu al-ʿĀsyiq by Rofif using Stuart Hall’s encoding/decoding theory. Employing a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach, the data consist of selected reader comments collected from Wattpad and classified into three positions: dominant, negotiated, and oppositional readings. The findings reveal that dominant-hegemonic reading is the most prevalent, indicating that most readers interpret the narrative in alignment with the author’s intended meaning, as reflected in emotional engagement, empathy, and narrative appreciation. Negotiated readings also appear significantly, characterized by readers’ active interpretation through speculation, moral evaluation, and reconstruction of narrative possibilities, influenced by personal and cultural perspectives. In contrast, oppositional readings are limited and manifest as critical resistance toward narrative logic, characterization, or underlying values. These findings suggest that reader reception in digital Arabic literature is not merely an individual interpretive act but a socially mediated process occurring within interactive online spaces. Therefore, while Stuart Hall’s framework remains relevant, it requires further expansion to accommodate the collective, performative, and participatory nature of meaning-making in digital literary platforms.
2026-04-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 andini fathan, Nurkholis Pilomonu, Fathur Rohim (Author) https://jurnalfahum.uinsa.ac.id/index.php/jilsa/article/view/2029 Gender Representation and Social Values in Arabic Language Workbooks for MTs Student: A Critical Discourse Analysis 2026-04-04T08:11:37+00:00 Saripah Saripah saripah2902@gmail.com Moch. However, LKS often contain representations that are not neutral; instead, they reflect ideologies, norms, and power relations that prevail in society. Therefore, it is important to conduct a critical study to understand how gender representation and social values are presented in Arabic Language LKS, as well as their implications for the character education process of students. This study aims to analyze gender representation and social values in Arabic Language LKS for Islamic Junior High Schools (MTs) using Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) approach. The data were obtained through an in-depth review of reading texts, dialogues, illustrations, and exercises contained in the LKS. The analysis was conducted by mapping the gender roles displayed and identifying the social values embedded in the texts. The findings show that gender representation in Arabic Language LKS for MTs tends to remain biased, reinforcing traditional male roles in the public sphere and female roles in the domestic sphere. Meanwhile, the social values presented prominently emphasize aspects of religiosity, politeness, responsibility, and cooperation but pay less attention to themes of diversity, social justice, and gender equality. These findings indicate that the future development of Arabic Language LKS needs to pay greater attention to the principles of gender equality and the integration of more inclusive and progressive social values. Thus, this study provides an important contribution to the development of teaching materials that not only strengthen students’ language competence but also encourage the formation of fair, open-minded characters with a sense of social justice, in line with the spirit of the Merdeka Curriculum.
2026-04-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Saripah Saripah, Moch. This study examines the effectiveness of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) implemented through debate activities in improving speaking skills at Darul Lughah al-‘Arabiyyah wa al-Fiqh as-Salafi, Annuqayah Latee Islamic Boarding School. A quasi-experimental design with two non-randomized groups was employed: an experimental group applying PjBL–Debate and a control group engaging in conventional debate, each consisting of 15 students. Data were collected through performance-based speaking tests and observations and analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired and independent t-tests, and N-Gain scores. The findings indicate that PjBL–Debate is significantly more effective than conventional debate in enhancing students’ speaking skills. The experimental group’s mean score increased from 56.8 to 84.6 (p < 0.001) with a high N-Gain of 0.71, while the control group showed only modest improvement (N-Gain = 0.31). These results suggest that integrating PjBL with debate effectively promotes contextual, communicative, and collaborative Arabic use within the pesantren language environment, offering a practical strategy to bridge theoretical knowledge and oral proficiency.
2026-04-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Masturi Masturi, Nila Sari Syafitri, Moh.
